Welcome to your first lesson of learning your first chords. While there are hundreds of chords within the musical spectrum, we are going to focus on the very basic chord structures. Play each chord 4 times, then move to the next chord.
What you'll learn
D Major Chord
A Minor Chord
C Major Chord
G Major Chord
Take notice of the fingering on the fretboard. Make sure you are using the tips of your fingers on each string so they will sound out.

Now strum each chord 4 times, then move to the next chord.

How did you do?
If you had issues with using your fingertips to form the chord and play clearly, fingers are touching other strings, or issues with changing from one chord to another, don't worry.
Although you are playing the easiest chords known to guitar playing it’s expected. Your hands and fingers are doing something new to them. In the that they need to move, they lack the muscles required to properly form the chords. But keep practicing, as persistence is key.
At this point, what’s more important is that you know how to form the chords with your fingers and know the name of the chords as you are playing them.
As you keep practicing the 4 finger exercises and these chords, your muscles, and coordination will develop before you know it.
