The 1, 4, and 5 chords are super common in rock, pop, blues, and country. Learning them is like getting a cheat code to play a massive amount of music. Because it's just three chords, you can focus on getting your rhythm and feel right, which is what makes guitar playing sound good.
These chords are the simple platform that all those awesome riffs and solos you love are built on, letting you make a really full sound without needing to know a million different chords.
